The NFL has rules and procedures for just about everything which is why I'm surprised the game was suspended.
Dang, dude. Hamlin was receiving CPR on the field (and remains in critical condition), and you’re surprised the game is postponed? This is bigger than football.
They may have to give it to the Bengals. They can't reschedule with one week left in the season.
I'm surprised they suspended the game. When Chuck Hughes died, they finished the game. When Darryl Stingley was paralyzed, they finished the game.

I read the one about if a team dies in a plane crash and how they have a draft of other teams to fill that team's roster. If they have a plan for that I'm sure they have one for this situation.
The football stuff pales in comparison in importance to Hamlin's condition but, with that said, if this had to happen, it's unfortunate that it had to happen in a game that has so much potential effect on the playoff picture.

I am old enough to remember these two instances and I guess these sportscasters are to young as they mentioned several times that this has never happened before that they could recall.
These are different times now and there is so much awareness on the health and safety of the players, not so much right now but their future with what we have witnessed with much older retired players.
Terrible situation. Prayers to both him and his family.
As far as rescheduling they could always play tomorrow and move their week 18 games to Sunday or Monday night.
Also known as commotio cordis. The way Hamlin was hit in the chest, made me think of that possibility. t's something I researched a bit when my son was playing baseball.
Yup. It’s more common in baseball. They make chest protectors but their effectiveness is not proven.

I can only read about it since I wasn’t born when Hughes tragically died on the field (the only known player in the NFL to do so). That said, Hughes had a second heart attack when he died; it wasn’t relative to a football injury/tackle (or even necessarily a shock, at least in the same way) i.e. he would have died anyway.

Yeah, that was also my first thought as to why when they said that.
On the ticker on the ESPN channel, and then out of SVP's mouth........Cincinnati Medical Center doesn't anticipate giving a further update tonight on Hamlin's condition.
