I don't just see NYC news videos, I read NYC newspapers online. I wouldn't even drive through NYC on my way to someplace else. And my news from various sources comes from the mouths of residents, former residents, your mayor and your police. You don't even prosecute your violent criminals. Maybe you are the one who isn't getting your news.
It’s not for you.
Doesn’t make it a “cesspool.” It’s quite a great city.
I've been to nyc numerous times because we live about 200 hundred miles from there. its par for the course. its reasonably safe but still I've always detected a con-artist or opportunists' elements in the city.
in this case, from what I saw I think the manager did a great job!
When we went to NYC last year, we stayed in Times Square. We will not be back there for a long time
I've been visiting NYC multiple times per year since I was a kid. First with my parents, now as an adult, with my kids.
I went to Times Square once as a kid.
I went once as an adult, to show my kids.
Your mistake was "staying" there. It's the kind of place you go to for the sake of seeing it and saying you went, and then leave. There is no reason to stay there, unless you like tourist traps.
I typically stay in Chelsea, which is MUCH nicer, MUCH cleaner, MUCH less crowded, and just a very pleasant area overall.

BS, its a dump and keeps getting worse. I used to visit in the 80's and 90's, then took my kids there for a visit and it was gross.. I will never go back again.
Is that the term use for every bad behavior or activity now, someone is mentally ill?
Characters like that are not uncommon, not just nyc.
ONly reason it made news because it got capture on video.
I said, MAY BE, which of course is a possibility.
