Very nice! Not only is it a handsome frame, but it's also extremely versatile, with the tire clearance and every braze-on you could ever want. When my ex wanted a bike I considered getting one for her and building it up myself, but I just didn't have the money at the time. Got her a Linus mixte instead. It served her purposes, but it's not nearly as nice as the Soma.
The Linus Mixte was on my list, but by the time I spec-ed out adding dynamo lights, rebuilding the wheels, add the chain case, front rack and it started to look like I should see what else was out there. I liked the Public mite better, but it recently changed to the 7-speed Nexus hub that I have in my current bike, and wasn't quite right.
After some searching it seemed like I could do better, for not that much of a premium, building from the frame up! I realized it was actually just easier, and I could avoid multiple trips to the bike store to get other things I wanted anyway!
I currently have a Public bike! They are targeting the same niche as Linus, and the bikes are quite similar in specs and look.
I am happy you have such good feedback for the frame! It was a random find.
It met my checkboxes: mixte, braze-ons for fenders and racks. Done!
Now that is has been over a year! I made some tweaks and I have a few more on the list.
Done:
1. swapped light for the edelux light: brighter and prettier
2. added a porteur rack from etsy. It ended up being a bit finnicky to install but looks good.
3. swapped to a chrome rear rack. Not perfect, I light end up replacing it again. TBD.
Thinking about:
New handlebars. I want maybe one more position. Thinking Albatross or Dove bars.
New pedals: thinking MKS Lambdas. So many good reviews. A little on the fence with looks.
