Flower Mound to 5800 Granite ParkwayPlano, TX 75024?

Looks like it would be easy, only 16 miles and the satellite view doesn't show that you are traversing areas that densely populated.

Would love to hear from those who have done or do it.

thank you!

The longest part of the drive will just be getting OUT of Flower Mound. VERY heavy traffic! Once you're on 121, it will be a breeze. Do keep in mind that 121 is a toll road, so you will be spending between $6-8 daily on tolls. You will want to get a Toll Tag ASAP to keep the costs down!

it may not be that POPULATED but there is a ton of traffic on that piece of 121, especially in afternoon drive time--I have come back that way after going to Plano Angelika for movies during the week...
and there is some construction going on as well
have you actually driven it to see what it is like in real-time?

ChristieP is right, the biggest headache will be getting out of FM. Lots of lights and traffic but once you get on 121 it should be very quick. I can't speak for the traffic heading west bound since I always took GB west but everytime I have been on 121 the traffic has been ok.

Precisely because you are not traversing areas that are densely populated means you will spend much more time on the road. Everyone needs a car to commute, and the access to major highways cans be very congested in the far-flung suburbs. The most highly trafficked/congested areas in the DFW area are the northern suburbs.

Thanks..Does anyone know if that is slated to improve? Is this due to the DFW connector construction ?

How about someone taking a stab at how long it will take?

construction on 114, 121, 183 scheduled to past for next 3 yrs in different sections...
right now Grapevine 114/121 between 635 connect and Main St is the PITTS--
and people drive like it is the Indianapolis 500--lots of truck traffic as well...

Frankly I think you are better off living in Plano close to your job--
why can't you do that?

I know the construction on 121/114 is awful but the OP isn't going that way plus he will be going east bound on 121, not south on 35 (for very long), which always is bad. I can only speak for myself going east bound on GB from Coppell to east Plano took me about 20-25 minutes. The traffic was worst the opposite way so I am thinking it might be the same for the OP. I would think that it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes on 121....but not from FM. I would guess that it will take 30-45 minutes from FM, depending on where you live. When I would meet friends in the Preston Rd area and 121 and headed home on 121 and exited MacArthur Blvd, it took me about 10-15 minutes with no traffic.

Maybe it is just me but I don't recall any construction that was heavy on 121 between 35 and the Dallas North Tollway recently.

The 121 construction between 35 and Tollroad has been complete for over a year now.

It takes about 15 minutes in non-rush hour traffic to get from 35 to the Tollroad on 121. No idea what it's like in rush hour. So it just depends on how far into the subdivision and away from main roads/ 35 you would be. I'm thinking it's close to a 45 min commute.
