One barometer to consider is how long have they been in business. I think EF has been in business for 100 years, right? Anyplace that stays in business for a hundred years has got to be doing something right.

We went there for lunch and I bought a bag of chips. They ARE good, but I like On the Border's Chips better, think I'll stop in and see if they sell them.

I find OTB chips to be too heavy and greasy for my tastes. While not looking greasy, my throat feels well coated after just a couple of baskets hehehe. However, I love their sauce. I get the big jar of it at Sam's. Great thread, by the way.

So can I just waltz into El Fenix and buy two bags of chips and be on my merry way?

Thanks for the heads up. Going to grab a couple bags on the way home, these will go great with some Shiner and the Poinsettia bowl.

I remember eating at El Chico's in Houston when I first graduated from college and was teaching there--wednesday night special and the Chicos around the city were full of teachers looking for a good inexpensive meal--
99 cents AND tea if I remember--
could leave a $1 on the table and walk out...
