Well school has been going on for about a month now and everyday, the commute from North Dallas to Frisco and back on both the DNT and the main roads (i.e. roads such as Spring Creek, Preston, and Park, to name a few) through Plano and Frisco is absolute hell; of course, Plano being the worst of the two cities in terms of the daily commute.

Anyway, the drive to and from school can sometimes be so stressful that it literally drives me on the edge of insanity. Driving through Plano at times reminds me of like driving in Mexico. On the city roads in Plano, if people are not riding your a** on the or cutting you off, they are driving really slow in the passing lanes and with the traffic being so heavy, you can't get over to pass them.

Just today, I ran into so many idiot drivers that I literally wanted to just stop and get out of my car and start shooting all of the idiots (and that is not normally something that I would be thinking). Anyway, b/c the traffic volume in Frisco and Plano is so heavy and only getting worse with the continued population growth, do any of you think that Plano and Frisco will ever get any relief routes in the form of new (and toll-free) freeways? I certainly hope so, because I would be willing to bet that most people that live or commute in the area are just as appalled with the traffic as I' am.

BTW, this may seem like a rant at times, but after the kind of day I just had driving in Plano and Frisco (I had to drive back and forth twice between the Quad C campus in Frisco and Spring Creek campus in Plano), I felt like I just had to get a little off my chest.

Yeah, unless I move to another section of the Metroplex or if I' am lucky enough to get a place near school next semester. I guess I can't complain too much though, considering that in places like Houston, almost every freeway in the area is a tollway.

Shoot, at this point I really don't care if they build another toll road, b/c I believe that another one would help alleviate traffic on the side roads and the Dallas North Tollway.

Ummm in Houston there are really only four tollways, the Westpark, the Hardy, the Ft. Bend, and the Beltway. And they are the vast minority of freeways in the area. All of the main routes, I-45, US-59, TX-288, I-610, and US-290 are freeways.

Dallas has the DNT, President George Bush, TX-121, and the one that runs through DFW. To me, that sounds like a wash.

The traffic is just one of the prices you pay for living in the northern burbs. I have stated many times there is no perfect place to live. There are always positives and negatives regardless were you put down roots.

Houston has one more than that: TX 99 (a.k.a. the Grand Parkway). I' am aware that it is far from complete, but a big chunk of it in the western reaches of Houston is.

Also, Dallas only has 3. The one at DFW doesn't count since it only passes under the airport and is only a few miles in length.

Anyway, the point that I' am trying to make with this thread is that the Plano and Frisco areas really need a new freeway (even if any new ones built are tolled) to help ease the traffic on many of the roads through the area because right now, the current setup isn't working.

I can't believe your reverse commute is THAT bad. I drive from Uptown to Legacy via the Tollroad everyday- 25 minutes door to door in the AM, 30-35 minutes PM. For a 22 mile drive, that's not bad.

Yes, the Tollroad drivers are terrible but it's really not that bad. What's bad is the commute IN traffic (ie, CoCo to Dallas in AM) - that can be an hour moving 10-25mph.

Also, if anyone can offer an alternative route for me to take from Midway and Frankford Rd. in N. Dallas to the Quad-C campus in Frisco that wouldn't be as bad with traffic, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Sure- Franford to Tollroad, Tollroad north to Gaylord, hook a right & make your way to campus. Shouldn't ever take more than 15-20 minutes. 1 Toll Plaza @ Parker- about $1.2 per day round trip for you.

Just thinking here- maybe the issue is the time your classes are? The route I suggested is super quick except for 4-7pm (rush your)- then you'd probably need to double my estimate. If so, you need to see if you can rework your class schedule next semester so you're headed north in the AM or mid-day.
