It will probably be longer than that. Why Waxahachie? What is it you are looking for in a home/community? If you aren't married to the house yet, you might want to consider some other options unless you just love to drive.

The differences between Addison and Waxahachie are night and day.

Oh my... that drive is just brutal. Everything except the last few miles may take you 53 minutes... but those last few miles in Addison could take you another 15. I avoid Addison like the plague, due to traffic. Nice area otherwise.

That's not a commute but a roadtrip!

That's something like $250/month in fuel @ 25 mpg, $3/gal, just to drive to work... not to mention wear/tear on the body and vehicle. That's not my bag.

My drive is 16 miles, round trip - roughly $50/month commuting costs. I can put the other $200/month into a house, get a bigger tax deduction and earn some appreciation on it instead of depreciating my vehicle. Geesh, am I a geek? And to think that my next vehicle once my current one dies will be a Deisel Accord (coming out in 2009) cause that'll decrease commuting costs down to $25/month. Yup, I'm a geek. It's confirmed.

Brian

If you were on the open freeway, it would be 53 minutes, but you're not. You are going through one of the biggest cities in the country. I'd say 70-90 minutes each way if there are no wrecks, no lane closures, no rain, no construction. Half of your trip would be on a tollway (which is having some construction right now), so add that to your costs. Plus, you will need to replace your car more often, besides the cost of gas.

Agreed. The commute would be 53 minutes if you were the only person on the road.

Don't do that. There is plenty of excellent low priced housing in the north part of Dallas, Richardson and Plano that are right next door.

Waxahachie is another world as compared to these places. I drive to Austin alot and think of Waxahachie as my 1/3 point. It's far.

keep looking for houses

Oh it's not that bad, if you're going from your home in Waxahachie to work in Addison. Based on my experiences the trip along the major highways is about 45 miles and you should be able to drive that portion in 45 minutes most days. That's not much worse that most of the commutes from Frisco to downtown as far as time goes.

That would be based on travelling 70mph between Waxahachie and Hwy 67, 30 mph between 67 and the DNT, and 70mph up to Arapaho.

Of course that assumes no major accidents and it's been a while since I've driven the Tollway in the mornings.
