It was. I've edited it to bring it within the Terms of Service. And I see no reason we can't put our collective heads together and brainstorm a bit for the OP.

Head out to Laurel, MD and I'm sure NSA would be interested. I know they're the largest employer of math majors...

Extrapolating that, would defense contractors be a good place to look?

I don't see why she couldn't have asked for PM to be sent instead of starting a thread...surely someone with a Masters in Math knows how to use job search engines and I can't believe that she wasn't recruited by someone like Lockheed or big insurance company...

Based on the grammar, I'd guess that English is a second language for the OP. They may not be as familiar with US based job search sites.

Have you thought of going into teaching? Pay usually starts at 40K for first year teachers.

please don't recommend teaching as a way out of not having a job in your field--teachers are trained to teach--it is not just a fall-back if you can't get a "regular' job...plus if the poster is not native English speaker that is just extending a problem...

This is a harsh post. We really don't know the situation of the original poster.

my reply was directed at STARGAZER but GULF5DRIVER I don't mind explaining my response--
have read similar suggtions from other posters on the Dallas/FTW/and general TX board--teachers from out of state with degrees in education have trouble getting a teaching position here--why should I be glad to see someone with out any training enter that discipline...I doubt that STARGAZER is a teacher because no teacher would be so glib...

I don't appreciate all the suggestions that point people with other degrees to teaching if they are having trouble finding a job in their initial fields--teaching is not a catch all for college grads looking for work--it is a calling, really, and requires a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work in addition to some scope of training in how to be successful as a teacher...it is not a make-do job until you get a real one...

there is no correlation really between having a math degree and teaching math, especially in elementary school

would you expect someone with a masters in math to look for work as an accountant or CPA --they both have to work with numbers...
