im looking into relocating to texas but i really dont care what city i stay in. What i was thinking about doing was staying in a hotel or something for about a week or two and sending in resumes and filling out applications to several nursing homes all over texas and just jump into the first city with a job that hires me. I just really want to get out of my current situation here in Detroit. Im collecting unemployment right now and im still saving my income tax from last feb. so im ok with staying in a hotel. But my question is where should i start? Texas is a huge state and although i have my own car, i dont want to waste my savings driving around all over texas to fill out apps.

Do some internet research for seniors living - assisted or independent. Towns like Tyler, Abilene, Temple, Sun City and probably others are big with independent/assisted living quarters. Or you can go for the big cities.

Find mid-sized towns along interstates, I-20, I-10, I-35. Kids can get to places near the highway to visit more easily than traveling through the countryside.
