Does the county there provide that service as well?
I know that all of the schools have OT...but I'm not sure to what extent. I know there are several respite services and non-profit orgs that will work with the children.

I don/t think the state will pay for YOU to be a caregiver to your own child--

I totally agree with that. We moved here from Ohio and I never thought that as wonderful as Texas is to be, that they are lacking in the department of children with special needs. And if your child has issues but is able to not be dispructive which is my daughter, than they don't view her issues or needs. It is heart breaking and if I'd know what I knew now, we would not of moved to Texas. We were talked about the program from the school and staff and what was relayed was not what was received.

I have heard Lewisville ISD is top notch for educational services, but I don't know about speech, OT, PT, etc. they put a lot of money into Special needs programs.

Minnesota has programs for special needs (your state tax will kill you in the process, but you will get services). My understanding is certain counties will allow you to do be both a parent and get paid as a respite worker for your own kid. Hard to believe, but totally true.

I think I would consider a move somewhere else for special needs.
