I love El Paisa and Cuquitas. Taco King over by Park Lane is also really good for burritos. I've heard El Paisano down by Lombardy is good but I've never been there.

Yea I've been there and it's pretty good and authentic. That place is always packed even in the wee hours of the morning. I had to file in line around 3:30AM

Urban Taco. It's delicious! There's one in Mockingbird Station and one in Uptown.

I envy you. How fortunate for you that you can so easily satisfy your desire for fine mexican food by merely going around the corner to Taco Beuno. How great is that!

We lived over there and ate at El Fenix a few times... meh. As far as authentic mex, I haven't ventured out too much for it. We tried La Picosa on Spring Valley and Montfort and had meat that tasted a lot like dishsoap... can't explain it. But this guy I know did a taco tour and blogged about it so I may try some of the places on his list if I ever head out that way.
Nooooo, I'm much too cheap for that place, haha

Tell me about it. I love Mexican food. I make it at home, eat it at Mexican restaurants, tacquerias, taco shops, and even at Tex-Mex restaurants.

Tex-Mex is at the very bottom of the Comida Deliciosa Totem Pole, however, I eat more of it than I prefer since it is naturally so very common here.

Amigo's and Frankie's, both in Richardson, are a decent mix of Tex-Mex with some "authentic" mex thrown in. Cheap prices, good service. Not my favorite restaurants, but reliable and good. They do make my favorite pinto beans of all the restaurants I go to.

While my comment was pretty much tongue in cheek, as I so often like to do, it is more of a commentary on my own frustration in wanting a New Mexican restaurant in the area on the order of something considerably better than Weck's.

As in "red or green"?

My wife is from Albuquerque and we visit there sometimes. The red sauce will light you up good. Hotter than our Tex-Mex. And don't ask for honey on your sopapillas.
