Can one get from the Lowes area in Garland to N. Garland Rd and back now without going on the turnpike? We visited Sam's yesterday and I think I got on the turnpike on the way home trying to get to Firewheel Blvd from the access road. Guess I will know for sure if I get a bill. The new area around Firewheel Mall is very confusing when you are trying to avoid the toll road.

I'm quite familiar with the area and I can't remember, unfortunately, if you do pay the $.23 when you get on George Bush and then exit at Brand Rd. But there is another way to go and if you get on Google maps and go to where the Lowes is in North Garland, you'll see the directions I'll give you. From Lowes you can get on Mars Dr. Well, actually first you gotta get on Firewheel Pkwy but almost immediately is Mars Dr. Mars Dr. then intersects with Naaman School Rd. I would make a right on that and take it past 78. Once you pass 78 you'll come upon traffic lights. On the next traffic light I would take a right, that is Brand Rd. Go under George Bush and get on the access road and then you'll hit North Garland Rd. I believe, in looking the google maps, that maybe instead of turning a right on Brand Rd. you might just take Naaman School Rd. which changes to Naaman Forest Rd and it would take you all the way to Sam's. It's a new road so I'm not sure about that cause I haven't traveled it yet.

NTTA not charging for the Eastern Extention that connect Firewheel and Hwy 30 right now. NTTA will start charging shortly once construction has lighten. However there is no complete service road for either way your are looking at. Firewheel area is not complete yet and won't be for a couple of months so your confusion will be fixed.

I called NTTA's customer service and the guy there was confused on what was free and what was tolled. He did say that the stretch from Hwy 78 North to Brand Rd is now tolled. This is a change from the past several years.

He also said that bills aren't sent out until you accumulate 5 toll bills. I asked him if you didn't travel on the turnpike 5 times in several years would you get one of the $1000 tickets and he laughed and said no.
