Hi, We live in the DFW metroplex and would like to move into a gated community. What are my options in the city of Carrollton and Lewisville?

There aren't really any gated communities with single family homes in Lewisville or Carrollton. Both of those are more low end suburbs & do not cater to buyers looking for gated developments. I'd recommend looking in adjacent areas such as Plano, Far N Dallas & Frisco, as all of those areas offer gated communities. Frisco has neighborhoods such as Heritage Lakes, Chase at Stonebriar, Creekside at Stonebriar etc on the lower end of the price point, as well as gated neighborhoods like Starwood and villages of stonebriar park on the high end. If you're looking for gated, those are your best bets closest to the area you requested.

The Colony has got Waters Edge and a part of The Tribute.
Just north of there off Little Elm (Technically Frisco) is The Shores at Hidden Cove & The Shores At Waterstone.
Lewisville has got The Villas (The Reserve) at Castle Hills and Enchanted Hills.

If you decide to go to Frisco, there are more choices:
Newman Village, Starwood, Stonebriar, Richwoods, Lexington, Kingswood, Latera, Heritage Lakes, Shaddock Creek, Heritage Lakes, Chapel Creek, Lakes On Legacy, Willow Point & Wyndsor Point.

There are a few around Marsh Lane/Parker Road. Once visited someone who lived in Gates of Prestonwood. Its a nice subdivision and great location, practically West Plano.

What price range do you need?
North Texas is generally not so great with gated neighborhoods, but there are some.
Don't be mislead into think that it provides a lot of extra security.
Your HOA dues do get increased though typically as owners are now responsible for street repair.
