My wife woke me up this morning about 2 AM saying someone shot out our window at the head of our bed. She heard the car speed off after it happened. I had taken a muscle relaxer and could not comprehend everything at that time. We have interior window shutters at the head of the bed that we keep closed. When I got up around 5 AM I found the window was broke and it appeared to be a BB that did it. The screen had a hole about the size of a BB. We had to leave early to travel out of state, so I could not check it out more.

We live in the East section of Lakewood off of St. Francis Avenue. I was curious if anyone had this happen before. I am sure it was a bunch of kids getting their kicks, but it kept my wife awake the rest of the night.

Years ago I had a bullet come through the front window. I looked out quick enough to see a car speeding away. Made a police report and nothing ever happened again. Like you said, some crazy kids on a Friday night. I would tell your wife not to worry about it, the odds caught up with you, that's all. We all hope not to be the victim of randomness. Be glad no one got hurt. If you have a second incident soon, keep the police up to speed. Are you on a corner lot? I was at that time.

Crazy. I hope you called the cops. Thank god you guys didn't get hurt ... even if it was just a BB it could of shattered your glass I imagine and hurt someone. And if it was a .17 or .22 small caliber bullet ... well lets just say I hope it was not that.

If you lived in Plano or Frisco I bet you wouldn't be waking up to a drive by shooting occuring at your house. Lakewood is a nice neighborhood, but when you're on a little island surrounded by an ocean of ghettoness, poverty and crime ... which accounts for 80% or 90% of the city of Dallas ... stuff like that happens from time to time.

That is why our grandmas and grandpas - most of them anyway - fled to the suburbs (or HP/UP) back in the 60s and 70s, and people still enjoy the safer and newer cities to this day.

Less crime, less poverty, better city services, more house for your money (in some cases) and better schools make places like Frisco, Rockwall, Plano, etc ... just hands down awesome.

And again, I am sorry to hear what happened. That sucks.

There is no Utopia these days. Even if you're in Frisco you may get this or an
old man scratching up your Hummer or even your dentist or chiropractor molesting your kid.

Ummmm....this area isn't exactly Lakewood. Off St Francis is Forest Hills on one side of Ferguson and Claremont (maybe also another neighborhood) on the other side of Ferguson. I'm assuming you are on the south/east side of Ferguson.

That's exactly why we left Dallas (Little Forest Hills area) and escaped to the suburbs. After having cars' windows broken out, and stuff stolen from our yard, we moved to the suburbs and have never looked back...

Agree with this. St Francis is in no way considered Lakewood. It's on the opposite side of the lake.

We have had incidents of shots fired in our neighborhood, although none has hit anyone's house that I know of.

St. Francis isn't Lakewood, but the Forest Hills side of it is surrounded by really expensive and nice homes, many $1 million+, and you wouldn't expect something like this to happen there normally. It's disheartening. I hope it's an isolated incident, and I'm glad the OP isn't hurt.

I agree that this stuff doesn't just happen in Dallas, too. I spent some time growing up in a pretty middle-class Ft. Worth burb (HEB), and I witnessed plenty of bad stuff back then. I saw homes vandalized, assaults, and more all in my "safe" 80%+ generic white, middle-class neighborhood with exemplary and recognized schools. There's no wall at the Dallas City Limits signs keeping all of the crime in.
