I get dry scaly patches that turn red from irritation in winter but I chalk it up to dryness from cold weather and the lack of humidity from central heating. Richardson gets its water from the same source as Collin County.

I battle it by moisturizing very well in winter; if it gets bad enough I'll use baby oil, vegetable glycerine, or that Gold Bond anti-itch stuff. All of those work very well. I don't have this problem in warm weather.

Hope this helps!

I just moved here to the Dallas area and within a few showers I was breaking out into rashes under my arm and on the back of my neck. What is the deal with the water?? At first I thought my skin needed more moisture however that is not the case. Something has to wrong with the water. Is it even safe enough to drink?? Im pretty sure is it not. Please provide some help!!

Not all water comes from the same source. Where do you live? I've never experienced that, but there are some towns around here where the water has a bad taste.

Collin County is largely served by:

North Texas Municipal Water District - About Our Water System

The member and subscriber cities are listed on that page. If you have concerns about your water and you live in those cities, that's who you have to contact.

It makes my hair fall out. I find it every morning in the shower.

This is my 15th year here in Collin County but never had any issues with water. I don't even remember any guest mentioning it. Consult your dermatologist.

BigT3x, why are u in this forum again?
Texas2008, i moved from san diego in with my girlfriend experienced several rashes from the baths and showers. When she just used treated and boiled water she got better. During her checkups with her doctor was adviced that this water was contaminated and was giving her hives or rashes and they show up anywhere on the body. We are still new here and now looking to move from frisco, tx to a safer place. Is there a place in the dallas area that is not supplied with the same water here. It would be sad to leave the city and our jobs because of allergic reactions to the water. Any information helps. Has anyone reported this to the coty council and are they looking into this and is there a solution other than getting one of those expensive antibacterial and chlorine filter shower systems? Thanks!

Stop it. Good grief. DM me the Docs name I want to give that person a call and seek out more details......

Within both Dallas Water Utilities and the North Texas Municipal Water District:

1. The bacteria counts are vanishingly low as BIRGHT SUNSHINE kills nearly all microbes early in the water treatment process........

2. Free-chlorine, free = active, counts in both districts are high enough to kill off harmful residual microbes..............

If you all are really suffering from rashes and the like it's 1,000x more likely to be your choice of soap, shampoo, towels, fabric softener, oddball linens etc. than the water.
