I understand New York being fourth, but LA being third is baffling.

Obviously it's moreso for you folks, but this happens everywhere. What we need is for people to stop breeding!!

That's what we get for being in a State with a very business friendly environment.

Is there really anything built after 1970 that has added to the quality of life in Dallas?

The population growth has made Dallas very diverse.

In 1970, Dallas was (statistically) very white bread with a small black community.

My area was fairly diverse even back then - especially from a North Dallas perspective - they tended to look down upon it for precisely that reason. It was much more diverse during the 70s.

I was really joking but back in the 60s and early 70s we had North Park and a thriving downtown where you got dressed up to go and would inevitably run into someone you knew or their parents. Kids as young as fourth or fifth grade would take the city bus and it was no big deal...I remember taking one to the fair circa 1970 and transferring on a "South Dallas" corner...really no big deal! I mean it wasn't exactly a utopia as far as crime back then in case you are thinking of some sort of Ozzie and Harriet 50s dreamworld...it wasn't...things were just concentrated...also we didn't have miles of chains and big box stores back then - most likely you knew the proprietor when shopping or eating out...people were very loyal back then...

Signed, fledgling Curmudgeon...
