Okay, folks, I need some recommendations for excellent FRESH sushi in the Dallas area. I am hoping to find a place with good service and a wide variety of rolls (not just 5 or 10). Sushi is my favorite type of cuisine and before I start going out and spending my hard earned cash, I wanted to get people's recommendations.

I am far from an expert, but friend's who are much better versed in sushi than I suggested Yutaka. It was fantastic.

Just Yelp it. That's what I did when I was there and I managed to go to 4+ star rated restaurants

Nearly all sushi in The US is flash frozen (super frozen?) in order to kill worms and other tripe that is more or less inherent in ocean going fish.

We love Sushi Kyoto in University Park...not sure how it compares in terms of variety with other places in Dallas, but it works for us.

Agree with the recommendation to use Yelp. We use that a lot since we are still relatively new to Dallas.

Yelp is the way to go!

We love our local Edohana and MK's Sushi.

The yelp thing is interesting.

Restaurant owners are only able to respond 5 times per year.

A friend owns a really successful restaurant bar locally. Twice he's been able to prove, to the point that yelp removed the reviews, that reviews were not just inaccurate but totally fake. Each time the bad reviews were written by a competitor.

That's why you have to read as many of the reviews as possible...after a while the fake ones, good or bad, become easier to spot. Started yelping when we got to Dallas and so far have had good luck with it.

What kind of sushi are you looking for? Traditional japanese or american fusion (all the rolls with cooked ingredients and cream cheese?)? From what I've looked up there are restaurants that cater to one or the other. Check Chowhound too.
