Seems like a weird comparison, but my friend lives in Tulsa, and wants to know about Dallas. I don't know enough about Dallas or Tulsa to be of any help. Any info would be good. Economy, Industry comparisons, weather, traffic, diversity, cost of living, etc.

I spent my childhood in Tulsa. My family always says Dallas is a lot like Tulsa, but much bigger.

Don't you really think that Dallas is more like OK-City than Tulsa ?

Hubby (OK native) says Dallas's industry is more technology-based versus Tulsa's which is more manufacturing-based. Of course, this was his perception from like 10-15 years ago...lol!

The only similarities the two cities share are the xenophobia of their middle classes.

There are probably better public school options in DFW - if you can afford the suburbs and endure their awful commutes.

Tulsa is lovely - lively and burgeoning and exciting and fun - but still accessible.

Dallas is so decentralized and fragmented.

Tell your friend to STAY in Tulsa if he has a decent job.

Tell your friend Dallas & Tulsa are absolutely NOTHING alike!

The closest comparison to Tulsa in Texas would be like Fort Worth only with the scenery of Austin.

Tulsa is very lush/green & hilly...almost mountainous right outside the city limits.

Dallas is prairie grassland with a few gently rolling hills along the wide open horizon as far as the eye can see.

Little Rock & Tulsa are closer comparisons IMO.

Tulsa reminded me of Plano, especially the south side. Downtown Tulsa has a river next to it just like Dallas, but they are so different in size it's hard to compare them. Oklahoma city reminded me more of fort worth and a lot more of a big Wichita falls.

Tulsa is a large city, Plano is a large suburb.

Nothing in North Texas is remotely like Tulsa except for maybe Fort Worth. The laid back vibe, size, economy, & conservative mind set.

The river you speak of, the Arkansas river is many times larger than the Trinity. Its more comparable in size & look to the Brazos River running through Downtown Austin.
