OMG!! What are we doing peopleeeee? this ain't California or the northeast...or at least it is not supposed to be. Read "The Success of Texas: Big, CHEAP and Right" As soon as outsiders realize how freaking expensive TX is becoming, they will stop coming.....they will realize that paying $8,000 for a house in highland park or west Plano is not the same as paying $8000 for the same trash in the hills of Irvine, CA. You guys are just creating a future housing bubble for yourselves! Affluent? Hmmmm, Highly doubt it, most of the houses here are getting so expensive due to the hype. Super over rated.

Back to topic: I've seen plenty of really nice houses in the range of $1000 to $1500 in the joe pool area (arlington, gp, ch, mansfield) PLENTY.

There are rental houses available for $1K+ in many areas. Just the NOT type and NOT in the area the OP is asking our help with. The OP started this thread and hopefully those who chime in have a desire to respond to the OP. So, as you stated, let's stay on topic. He did not ask to live in Arlington, Grand Prairie, Cedar Hill or Mansfield on a $1-1.5K budget. the OP is looking for a vintage/character home in the north section of Dallas inside the loop.

Exactly, and thank you for the links you DM'd me Squirl. I had seen the little gray house and like that one. To give an idea on the type of house we are looking for as a visual picture below is what we like!
