If you can buy a home in any area in and around Dallas, all the way upto Frisco in the north, Southlake in the West, Plano in the east, and Dallas and north of it, what area will you choose? Elementary school is important. Area can include Irving and such areas, where will you buy a home?

Assume your job is in Richardson but you do not mind upto a 40 minute commute.

House must be no more than $1 million. Near a golf course. 4-5 bedrooms.

I had posted earlier about Frisco, Allen, Plano and McKinney, but now it seems family does not want to look in McKinney or Allen. So please exclude those two along with Frisco . Plano is still an option.

Did not care for Highland Park area, and for that price range the homes arent as nice as you can get in other areas for less. Less traffic than is found in main Dallas is preferred.

We recently went to Irving and the homes there are quite nice, especially in Cottonwood Valley area. There are also some nice parts in Richardson near the golf course there, but seems a bit secluded, which we do not seek. Easy access to highway and shopping is important.

I realize this is all over the place but just wanted some insight.

Thank you.

Southlake to Richardson will be much more than 40 minutes, especially if you are going on 635. Probably more like 60 minutes.

If you work in Richardson, its West Plano hands down in your price range given the locations you have excluded.

Lakewood(75214) has gorgeous homes in that range, and Lakewood Country Club members are some of the who's who in Dallas.

I live in Cottonwood Valley and would never live here if I worked in Richardson. I would live in Richardson or North Dallas served by Richardson or Plano schools.

Las Colinas to Richardson will not be an easy commute. With 635 under construction, the PGBT is the only other option, and it gets expensive and has a lot of traffic on it.

Where's the job in Richardson? Closer to 75? Bush Turnpike? Hopefully highway access from these places will lessen your commute. Allen would be ideal since its off 75 and a straight shot to Richardson.

West Plano, 75093 zip code. There are two golf courses, Gleneagles and Prestonwood. Here is a nice listing from the area.
