It's a bedroom community, period.
I will agree.

An hour commute to Irving is rare...even on a bad day, and worth the price to live in Uptown for someone in your situation. As TC said, great place to meet people and lots to do outside of bars. My husband has an office in Irving @ 161 and Walnut Hill and consistent 25-30 minute commute from Knox/75. LC is nice, but you may regret being the only one around on nights and weekends..

When I was living on Turtle Creek, I had a 3-month-ish project in Las Colinas. It took, on average, about 20 minutes to get to my office going Oak Lawn / 35/ 183/ 114. Going home was a bit more traffic-y so leaving before 5 or after 6:15ish is key. Only once did it take an hour and that was in the worst of the 114 expansion project; an 18-wheeler involved in construction had an accident. There seemed to be less consistent wrecks on this route vs my normal DNT to Plano route, fwiw. Only downside is there aren't many alternate routes when there is an accident. I guess Northwest Hwy but no equivalent of Midway / Inwood for DNT or Greenville / Hillcrest for 75.

Hey

Where did you settle in the end? I am facing a similar dilemma!

Clare - Las Colinas is a very safe, vibrant area with easy access to everything. They are building a lot of mice entertainment in the area, a custom grocer is coming.

I live there and would recommend.

I live in Las Colinas and love it. Being early 30s, I like the quietness and cleanness around. But if I want to go somewhere, Las Colinas is definitely in the middle. It only takes me 20 minutes to get to Addison and probably 30 minutes to get to uptown. It is true that LC is not really walk friendly. You cannot walk to Starbucks or bar or grocery store although my friend did it (walking to Starbucks) when he was here. If I really want to be able to walk to anywhere, I would not pick DFW to live but probably NYC or Chicago.

The only thing LC is missing in my opinion is a nice grocery store. But I think they will start building one close to Microsoft campus by 161.

So hope you will pick LC and welcome to LC!
