Hello All,

I am considering enrolling a child in the Park Cities YMCA Preschool and I wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about it. (For those who are interested, the basic info can be found here: Preschool | YMCA Dallas.)

Specifically, how academic-focused is it? Any insights or thoughts or opinions are welcome. I'm familiar with the current facilities and like the staff there, but don't have any real inside knowledge on the preschool.

Thanks in advance.

I lived in the park cities for a number of years and did not know one family that sent their kids to the YMCA for preschool. I would want to know how many kids are "local" and how many kids are shipped in from other neighborhoods. Further, I think (not 100% sure) that the YMCA just got approval for its much needed expansion and update. I would want to know how that is going to impact the classes, facilities, etc. UP Methodist and HP Presby Day School are both within a couple of miles and have great reputations.

This^. Though I and many friends in the area played sports through the Park Cities why and participated in Indian Guides and Princesses, I don't know of anyone going to preschool there.

I always assumed that it was families from other neighborhoods who just assumed it was good because it was associated with the Park Cities YMCA (which is a good organization). It might be great, but I just don't know.

I also know of no one in my generation who used the Y preschool (for us or for their kids now). I do know some people my parents age (60's) who went there.....not much help, huh?!

HP Pres, UP Methodist, HP Methodist, and Westminster Pres seem to be the more popular preschool choices for HPISD families.

I know a couple of people who used it. One from outside the Park Cities and the others from inside. They all liked it and thought it was completely age-appropriate place with a warm and friendly staff. It's small, though, I think just one or two rooms.
