Will the city of Plano pickup and dispose of a dead wild rabbit in a private residences yard and dispose of it safely.

Get a garbage bag, a shovel, and pick it up yourself. A rabbit???? We're not talking about a large animal here.

John... Do you have a pair of garden gloves and a trash bag? If yes, you can handle this. You can call City of Plano for this, but I think you're liable to be laughed at for asking.

A country boy would grab the rabbit by its ear and trash it and maybe not wash his hands after.

I'd get two plastic trash bags. Grab the critter with your hand inside one bag and carefully place him/her in the other. The idea is to never touch the rabbit or breathe close to the body. And trash it.

Use to plastic garbage bags in such a way as your hands never touch the critter. Don't breath in any bad air around the carcass. Dead animals become a cesspool of bacteria almost immediately after death.

If the body is mushy or falling apart quarantine it as best you can and leave it to the ants and whatnot.

I think you ARE actually supposed to call the city...as it is not supposed to go in our trash cans. I know I have called the city of Mckinney before to pick one up, and I believe I also did the same when we lived in Plano. But to be honest, we get SO many, most of time we do just bag them and put them in our trash. You could always just call Animal Control and ask what the proper disposal method is.

Wife is a microbiologist and indicated same as you that is do not put it in trash for Safety/health reasons.

Mother Nature took care of as the carcass disappeared.

Likely a coyote.

Get a trashbag and wrap it around the rabbit and throw it in the trash. There is no difference between a rabbit carcass and dirty diapers and food scraps.

Or, if you want to feed the wild critters, just kick it under a bush.

If I had $1 for every road kill squirrel that I've had to toss in the trash, I'd be able to take a nice vacation. I swear those creatures must be suicidal!
