I am going to be in town tomorrow for the first time, I would also like to take a look at the Chinese populated areas or some recommended restaurants and buffets, only authentic though..

Is it all scattered around or is it centered in one area of the city?

I have heard Tong's in Richardson (off Coit) is where Chinese nationals working at TI take their family when they come here to visit. I didn't check passports or anything so I can't swear it's true.

Look in the West Garland, East Richardson area. Especially along Walnut and Buckingham/Spring Valley. Lots of authentic Asian cuisine and markets.

Dallas Asian Population Really that high?!?!?

That should help, and based on this website, us chinese number at about 80,000.
Dallas Asian - About Us
I can tell you There is a series of strip malls in garland, but Plano has a Big chinese population.

Plano, Richardson, Carrollton, Flower Mound, North parts of Dallas, and Irving all have significant Chinese populations. Richardson and Plano have the most, Garland has quiet a few too. DFW in addition has a strong Korean, Vietnamese, Indian(including Pakistanis and Bangladeshis too) Chinese is high up there, but they really don't make as much noise or supermarkets as the Koreans and Vietnamese do. I find it odd casue we HAVE a HUGE Indian population but no little India (we have an occasional strip mall but nothing like the Koreantown) anyways, we don't have an official Chinatown, being Chinese myself, we don't have one of those thingys that says 'Chinatown' in Chinese where you drive under. Garland or Plano is you best bet, but truly and honestly the Vietnamese supermarkets serve all Asians. That where I go for my Chinese needs. Take a look around.... We have a huge Chinese population but just no official Chinatown, this actually bugs me a bit... I might actually write to the ROC, cause my Ancestors were very prominent so they get us the little over-hang thing. Anywho, I can personally tell you our un-offical Chinatown is better the the official one in DC, in my opinion. .. the DFW Chinese population is not as high as Vancouver's though. The DFW chinese store are very scattered, like I said Plano, Richardson, Irving, Flower Mound, Arlington, Coppell, Garland, and north Dallas all have some Chinese stores.... those are all cities btw except North Dallas.

If you want to know where the Vietnamese and Korean enclaves are just ask us. I'll be happy to tell you.
