Hi,

Can anyone tell me where people buy their furniture here? I'm needing some mainly upholstered furniture, like sofas and armchairs. But also a decent dining table and chairs. I know about Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware (hope its ok to say those names on here ) but I wondered if there were any stores local to Dallas that had a good reputation.
I like to buy quality but am not a label slave, nor do I want to spend small fortunes on furniture, I know thats a relative term, what I mean is I'm not looking for Louis XIV's bathchair type stuff, hugely overpriced status pieces. I have hordes (or so it seems at times) of children so it needs to stand up to a good beating.
In terms of style, I'm European so quite classic and simple, nothing 'pfouffy' or ornate. And no spangly bits dangling off it! (Y'know you do have a reputation for that sort of stuff.. , just kidding)
Good solid, last a lifetime made from real trees type stuff. Ideally made in USA. Any local tips?

We are so glad to see you settling in lady from london. I recommend consignment stores which carry high high end furniture. You can get top quality and almost like new for half price or less. There two I know of that carry this quality. If you have an interest let me know. One is on beltline the othe is up in Plano

Weir's is a local Dallas furniture store that carries nice quality items at reasonable prices.
Their Plano location has an upstairs area for closeouts.
Most of their furniture is more traditional. Very customer friendly!

Try Restoration Hardware, Ethan Allen, or Weir's, like gymrat said. The first two aren't local, but the look and quality is really good.

The Consigneree is a high end furniture resale in the same center as Weir's. They carry higher end furniture than Weirs which is lightly used resale. The consignment store is on beltline in Far North Dallas with the same concept as Consigneree.

I strongly recommend you give them a look in making your furniture decision

These two areas have the highest concentration of furniture and design stores.

The North Dallas Design District.
