With her background and years of experience, I would doubt she would gain much at SMU (or any local univs).....A friend of mine (12 years in IT field) recently graduated (2013) from SMU and his class had >75% of students from IT background with avg experience at 10 years. He did land a Director level position after completion though..:-)

SMU's EMBA is ranked #3 in the world.

Did your friend get an MBA or the the EMBA or maybe something else?

EMBA, class of 2012. (I thought he was 2013)

Don't get me wrong, it seems to be a great program. It may not be the right one for your wife's background, especially if she is seeking to gain non-IT exposure through other students...She should probably check the % of non-IT students enrolled in the past few years and their years of experience. I think she would be a great source of knowledge for others enrolled in her class....:-)

She did. Not a lot of IT types anticipated for this coming fall anyway. If I have my facts straight no one has been admitted yet for next Fall. Looking at the bios of past students there are some IT types but not an overwhelming number.

I don't know much about EMBA programs but a friend here just completed one at MIT and loved it. Meets only once every three weekends (in Cambridge) so he found it manageable with his job and family. There is an info session in dallas on wed of this week. Long shot but thought it was worth mentioning.
