Greetings all - this is my first post here, and I've really enjoyed reading through these forums so far. I am looking to sign a 1-year rental for a 1-bedroom apartment in the Uptown area, and was wondering if you could recommend any apartment complexes or locators who could help me on my search. I'm not familiar with the area, so any advice would be appreciated.

Specifically, I’d like to look for something within the area between 75 and Cole/McKinney and Lemmon. Ideally, I’d like to find something for $900/month or less, but maybe this is even setting the bar too high because some of my friends have told me that I could find a decent place for around $1/ft. per month. I’m a pretty low maintenance person and I plan to purchase furniture that will fit the apartment - I'm guessing around 600 sq. ft. should be fine.

Can anyone please give me suggestions for apartment locators who could help me on my search, or recommendations for rental apartments? Also, how realistic can I find something good within my budget range of $900/month?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried Craigslist.com? There are apartments listed, as well as apartment locators. Also, a little farther north on 75/Central is a popular apartment area on the Dart rail called The Village Apartments.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone -- I'll definitely check out the recommendations. In the meantime, I've heard that Post Properties and Gables own many of the apartments for rent/lease down there. What do you guys think of these apartments? Would you recommend them in terms of reputation, value, etc.? How do they compare to other of the apartment complexes in the area?

Post builds crap that they sell for unbelievably high prices. But check it out for yourself!

I'd get an apartment locater. They really helped me find a place. They even told me the rates of occupancy and what price the apartment company would accept. I got my place for cheap.

Default living in Uptown, need help?

Similar to the original poster I am moving to Dallas in a few months and would like something around 500-700sq feet with lots of walkable bars/restaurants. I don't want to pay over $1000 a month for rent. Anyone know of any good places or has someone to contact? Anyone know anything about the West Village apts. They seem really cool. Would West Village be considered the best location in Uptown or not? tks and I can't wait to live in Dallas
