Hello

I live in Irving and have 2 kids of Elementary and Middle School age. How would you rate Anderson , Rice and Liberty combo for education ?

We are looking for a home under 10 years of age in Plano and in good school district. Any other options are welcome

Any reviews will be appreciated .

Thank you

Are you sure about that combo? Best I can tell, two of the schools are Frisco ISD and one is Plano ISD. Rice is a Plano middle school.

The correct combo would be Anderson, Vandaventer and Liberty. The city is Plano but under FISD. Liberty also gets fed from Fowler, on McDermott, whose elementaries are Borchardt, Taylor and Riddle. If you intend to attend PISD, not sure if there are any homes under 10 years feeding into the Rice combo.

How do Liberty kids perform ? Compared to Plano Senior?
What makes the difference? The Semester exams in Plano? Or something else that PISD Does for good?Just curious.

This has been covered ad infinitum on this forum - you can do a search on these keywords and find tons of information.

Rice feeds to Jasper to Plano West and this combo is probably the best academic feeder pattern in all of Plano (and Frisco too).

Plano West had 53 National Merit Semi finalists this year as compared to 16 for Liberty. Plano West also has an average SAT score of 100+ points over Liberty. Liberty is improving and probably the best (academic) Frisco high school - but not yet in the same league as Plano West.

It really depends on what you want and how your kid learns.

I don't really think you can compare Plano West 53 NMSF as against the 16 in Liberty when you have not mentioned the graduating class size. Liberty has a smaller graduation class . They are definitely awesome too. I am not so sure what "league" you seem to think Plano West is in....their rankings have been pretty dismal the last two years and definitely behind Liberty.

By what metric is Plano West behind Liberty? And what ranking is dismal?

Most recent average SAT scores have Plano West at approximately 100 points higher than Liberty. That is not insignificant and can make a difference. And this is done with a far more diverse (including economically disadvantaged population as opposed to Liberty).

Liberty has a total population of around 2400. Assuming 600 per grade, the % of NMSF is about 2.67 %. Plano West has about 2600 students. Assuming 1300 per grqde, % of NMSF is 4.1%.

I never said Liberty is a bad school. It is definitely improving - but with the demographics Frisco has, they should be doing better.

There are many good schools in Collin County but Rice is an exceptional school and you can't compare it to other Plano schools, let alone Frisco schools. Rice produces more science fair winners and merit scholars then whole Collin County. It is hard to match their performance and stimulating enviorment.

What ranking? Plano West beats Liberty in every way you can compare two schools.
