Looked through the pictures on their site, and I know furnishings are very specific per person, but gross.

I am not well versed about furniture styles, but what stores or online sell more modern looking furniture? I am thinking clean lines, without much ornamentation, stuff that goes well with wood floors - maybe something like IKEA designs, but better built and durable?

They don't have a web site to my knowledge. They focus on name brand, lightly used traditional furniture with only a little contemporary stuff last time I was there.

Any constructive suggestions for OP or.....?

+1 on Mitchell Gold, you may also consider Room & Board and Design Within Reach.

Make that consignerie and they do have a website to see if they fit your taste.

FWIW, there are lots of Italian (and other) furniture stores around the Galleria area.

My wife and I went there for the first time yesterday. The huge parking lot gave us the feeling of attending an amusement park. Huge selection. Sales people everywhere constantly asking if you need help. We liked the Clearance room in the back where they sell discounted appliances that have been returned. Has anyone used NFM for blinds? They told us it would cost I think $85 to have someone go to your home to measure your windows, then they can give you a quote. Are they competitive or would it be better to go with a place that specializes in blinds?

We went with The Home Depot and ordered completely custom wooden blinds for our townhome. I don't believe there was a charge for the contractor to come out and do measurements (unless they just failed to mention it).
