A room with a door (ie- not open to adjacent hallway or room) and a closet.

The closet apparently has to have a rod in it to count. Our 5th bedroom has a good sized closet fitted with only shelves and dcad doesnt count it as a bedroom.

I had a little Indian grandmother claim the room under the stairs as her bedroom. I didn't argue.

Usually a bedroom has a closet and a window to exit in case of a fire. That's why "Media Rooms" with no windows cannot be claimed as a bedroom.

If an open game room upstairs has a closet and a window, but no official door (just an open area to get to the stairs etc, its that considered a bedroom for purposes of tax assessment? Thanks.
