Good morning. I just recently accepted a position in Addison. I am looking to find and lease online as my transfer window is fairly tight. I'm in my mid 30's, single and would like to be close to good restaurants, shopping, and the occasional (once a month) nightlife excursion. Commute is a factor for me, hate to spend hours of my day in traffic. I've been looking at some places in the Flatiron District, thoughts?

Any other suggestions as to areas with a good commute.

Post Addison Circle community is worth a look. You'd be in Addison proper and next to the city hall annex, city park, N. Dallas Tollway, just north of Beltline (clubs, restaurants, nightlife.) Not far is Vetruvian Park with lux / upscale apts.

Cannot provide much in the way of permanent housing but I am currently staying at the Candlewood Suites by the Galleria while I look for housing and it's been a good experience (inexpensive, clean, quiet, and good customer service). If you need a place temporarily while you look for housing it might be an option for you. I found a house but cannot close for 45 days so, it is a good location in the meantime.

Forgot to mention Bent Tree just north of Addison Circle. I knew some folks who rented there for 6 months when they got transferred. Location was good for easy access to North Dallas Tollway, Addison Circle, etc.

Stay in the Addison and North Dallas area there are plenty of apartments. For a one-bedroom stay with many of the places that are $1,000 or slightly more, it is worth it. You will have less issues and be closer to everything. Addison has plenty of restaurants and bars and you can be in uptown Dallas in about 15 minutes and north to shops of Legacy (for a change of pace) in about 15 minutes also. Your commute will be nothing, other than beltline, which is always busy.

Live in Uptown and reverse commute up the Tollway. Better singles scene.

You should check out the new area just north of Addison. and Just southeast of the addison airport. (small airport) fun to watch the small planes. Its like shops of legacy and Austin Ranch but I would consider Addison first.
As on another response: Post Addison/Addison Circle

Although I said stay in Addison, I will agree uptown has a better singles scene if that is someone's main concern. West Village area is lots of fun and close to a lot of things. The reverse commute won't be too bad. Addison is a mix of singles, married young professionals and some older professionals. You can still be in Uptown pretty quick from Addison.

that"reverse" commute via tollway is miserable most days both ways. personally id rather live very close to the office in Addison to avoid the traffic jams and overall stress of driving, and head to uptown during the weekend.

^this

I did the reverse commute for years, and had zero interest living in Addison. It's worth the drive to live in a far superior area.
