I dropped that crappy paper the year they dubbed the illegal aliens "Person of the year."

-Copy a headline that is locked behind a paywall, right click, search google for the words in the headline. See if the paywall goes away when you "discover" that article through a search engine.

-If that doesn't work because the site is also tracking the total number of articles you're reading per month and you're over your limit, then open a new incognito window in google Chrome (ctrl+shift+N) so that the pages you view won't stick around in your cookie store.
I did the incognito hack today after receiving the over-the-limit popup. As much as I despise their editorial page, they do have some excellent business blogs.

"Liberal rag"? Compared to what, Mussolini?

The Dallas Morning News has not recommended a Democrat for President in my lifetime. I can't back that up, but I beg someone to prove me wrong. I was born in 1957.

They continually try to sell subscriptions at my Kroger. One time last year, I finally decided to tell the guy that I had not agreed with their editorial page in over 30 years.

The DMN is a lot of things, but a "liberal rag" it is most decidedly not.

Mussolini edited Italy's premier mid-century socialist newspaper Avanti! ("Forward!").

Have you tried it recently? Under new editorship from the East Coast since last year, there are days now that DMN is indistinguishable from the New York Daily News. You'd think you were reading Mike Lupica. Or the Dallas Times Herald.

OK let's tap the brake a little. The DMN has clearly and without any question moved left over the last few years - especially the last three. That said labeling the paper Marxist is ridiculous.

Got the paywall notification today. I guess I'll have to look at one of approximately 40,000 free news sites instead of the DMN now. I'm not paying for news, DMN.

Fully agreed. The New York Times isn't even Marxist, and it's definitely still left of the DMN. Their editorials have made it painfully clear that they think Hillary's Third Way corporate Democrat platform is far superior to the platform of the guy who calls himself a democratic socialist. And that Democratic socialist? Not a Marxist either, as a Marxist would be championing revolution and government seizure of the means of production. It cheapens the debate when every conservative calls every liberal a Marxist or every liberal calls every conservative a fascist.

That's what just about everyone will do. The paywall model is only going to work for the top papers like NYT, WSJ, WaPo. The internet makes papers like DMN redundant when it comes to things like running AP articles or having reporters/editorialists comment on national stories. The only area I can really see DMN being useful is reporting on the local stuff.

Exactly this. My boyfriend is very conservative and I'm very liberal, but one thing we do agree on is that this current political climate of screaming taunts at each other from our respective trenches gets nothing done and is harming us all.
