For those talking about pizza...You should try "Serious Pizza" in Deep Ellum. It has "seriously" changed my idea of a good pie!! It's a bit hole-the-wall type place but they have recently expanded their dining area to more than double its size. If you get a large for take out, bring an SUV or truck

Depends what type you're looking for. Near Plano:

1. Joe's at Parker & Tollway. There are others named Joe's, but you need to go to this one specifically. Really good NY style pizza and good pricing. They make everything there. It's just casual with self service at lunch and BYOB with waitstaff on weekends and evenings.

2. Campisi's: the new location at Parker & Preston is good and service is really superior. This is the Dallas mainstay.

3. Fireside at shops at legacy: great more upscale pizza, if that's what you're looking for. Really good chopped salad and Caesar salad.

4. Coal Vines at Legacy: similar to Fireside. Great coal fired, more trendy upscale atmosphere.

5. Italian Villa at Greenville & McDermott in Allen: so good! Everything made on site there and friendly, family owned. Good prices and great pizza with hand tossed crust.

6. Cavalli: in West McKinney: authentic Neapolitan style pizza

7. Rossatis: really good take out in McKinney

Taverna Rossa in west Plano & Cadillac in McKinney as others have mentioned are also good. Cadillac is small inside and gets crowded, but it's a great atmosphere in the historic square , and their apps are also good there.

Side note: Pizza Hut is disgusting. There are way too many good places near Plano to ever order that.

Not to quibble, but the Campisi's location on Mockingbird Lane is the Dallas mainstay. Though I am glad to hear that the satellite location in Plano is maintaining standards. Satellite locations don't always.

I was referring to the Campisi's brand in general. Obviously a location open 3 months isn't the 'original,' but it's still part of the mainstay brand & close to the OP's specified area, Plano. Didn't know it would be critiqued to this level - thought it was implied. Thanks!

For takeout I like Three Guys from Italy pizza. You can eat in if you can ignore the 70's decor your surrounded by.

Anyone have any suggestions for other pizza places to try.
Try Chicago Pizza Pizzeria in Allen!

Try Cane Rosso for Neapolitan Style Pizza. For "traditional" style pizza, there is a place called Bona Pizza close to Love Field airport which is awesome. It's a hole in the wall, but the pizza is amazing.

We love Campisi's - I've eaten at a couple different locations and the quality seems to be consistent.

Ate at Bay 34th in Addison recently with a recent New York transplant and he liked it a lot. Bay34th Pizzeria | Welcome to Bay34th Pizzeria - the home of New York style pizzas in Dallas
