That's awesome. Congratulations to this young lady on this achievement. I shouldn't be minimizing her accomplishment but even before opening this link, I knew that it's going to be an underrepresented minority from an unprivileged financial background. Caucasian or Asian kid from middle class families are never ever this lucky, even with similar or better resume, they are lucky if they get accepted to one of these schools. Elite schools put a lot of value on student's background to keep their student bodies racially, ethnically, financially and geographically diverse. I guess that's why it's easier for rich 1% or legacy kids like Trumps to get in, they are a rare group.

You'd think the way people here go on about needing to move to the suburbs so their children can excel in school that every student in the DFW burbs would be in this girl's situation and this would hardly be news at all. Regardless, congrats to her!

How did you determine she was from an unprivileged background? I know we all think that minorities get scholarships thrown at them, but that isn't necessarily the case, and being her name indicates her parents are probably not from America, she probably came from a well educated family that was not financially struggling. It seems your point was to minimize her wonderful accomplishments.
