I'm considering working for JC Penney in Plano and would be relocating from NYC. I'd like to live as close to work as possible, but also have walkable access to restaurants, shops, and life in general. I'm gay and my partner will also be visiting or living with me. I don't want to live in a new, suburban neighborhood. So something close to work but with a neighborhood feel would be great. Is downtown Plano out of the question as far as a close commute? Any other charming small town feeling places that would be fairly close to work would be great too. I really don't want to live in an anonymous, suburban, generic sprawl neighborhood.
