Another consideration is that you're talking about 2 different cities. Moving to Dallas is different than living in Plano. I live in East Dallas where the population is culturally diverse. My oldest child attends a school where caucasian is the 20% minority race and all my children's schools have Indian, Black, White, Asian and Hispanic teachers. Many "non-minorities" escape to the suburbs to avoid schools/neighborhoods like ours. However, any of your friends who make blanket claims about Texas are misguided. You're obviously aware enough to investigate on your own. Good luck!
