So I'm moving from Toronto to Dallas, I just spent a week in Dallas checking out all the areas.

I would appreciate anyones opinion on whether or not I should invest in a condo in Uptown or Victory Park.

My concerns are, will Victory Park develop and create the community it was intended to do so as planned.

With all the new construction going up, it does look promising. Will it be a bust tho?

At the moment, when I was there, it seemed like not many people walk around the Victory Park area.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Victory Park still feels undercooked. That may change in 5-10 years. For now, the main construction I'm seeing there are rental apartments. A grocery store is going into the ground floor of a new rental building in the next year, as well as other neighborhood conveniences (movie theater, etc), so perhaps it's actually taking off this time.

Uptown is filling in the small gaps and is much more stable in terms of an established area and property value. That's not to say I wouldn't take a chance in Victory Park... Uptown is much too generic in many ways for me to want to own there. If you're looking to buy and then keep a renter in, that might be your best bet.

Victory is just too sterile and cold by design. Empty streets and vacant retail space is the norm.

Victory was DOA and the plans to move the Basketball team to the other side of the freeway will not help it.

Uptown.

Victory will be a decent neighborhood in 10 years and the stadium will be a bit of a drain on the area, no longer an asset. Uptown will be even larger and better in 10 years, so I think Victory will be fine, but Uptown will be forming a bit of wall around the south end of Highland Park.

Victory Park has been 'complete' for quite some time. Businesses move in and businesses move out.
The Cinepolis will last about as long as the last downtown theater did. People flood the area during events making it difficult and inconvenient for residents in the area to get out and those that flood the area for the arena events don't stick around and spend money.
