Hi,

I'll be working in Greenville and I planning to live in McKinney. How is the commute between these two cities on US 380? I see from MapQuest, it takes around 45 mins one way.

Thanks

Yes, that's about right. Have you considered Rockwall? It's a nice place with very good schools, and it's about half as far away as McKinney.

Me, too. Way easier commute and honestly Rockwall is one of my favorite suburbs. It’s just so Far East that it usually doesn’t make sense to recommend but for commute to Greenville, it’s perfect!

Thanks

I do that route frequently and the time will depend on your work shift and movement direction. During normal weekday rush hours the flow it mostly toward McKinney in the morning and obviously toward Greenville in the evening. That 45 minutes can easily be exceeded during those times. The delays are between the East side of Princeton (East of the High School) to McKinney and from McKinney West to the the East side just mentioned. Between Princeton, through Farmersville, and to Greenville opens up considerably. Flow in the opposite directions during those times will also increase and can increase that time you have.

One other consideration is the Lavon Lake bridge stretch of road just West of Farmersville. It is not common but any bad accident can shut Hwy 380 down and the reroute is a significant add to the mileage.
