The worst seemed to be right around Stacy Rd at 121 and 75. I live off Exchange Pkwy in Allen right across from the football stadium. It was hard to tell since they were splitting when hitting my concrete balcony, but I think I got ping pong to golf ball size. At first I thought my car had made it unscathed but in the daylight yesterday I could see a lot of little dents. It's not awful, but it's still evident.

I went on a walk today through the neighborhood to my north. The farthest houses border the back side of the fast food places along Stacy. Damage was definitely worse. Obvious dents, cracked windows, damaged side mirror. Saw what looked like a newish $50-60K vehicle with lots of dents and what looked like a completely busted out rear window that was now covered. Lots of screens damaged too.

Snapchat has a public map feature, saw a lot of videos from the outlet mall and Fairview Town Center showing busted windows. Then of course it rained which probably soaked a lot of interiors. I consider myself lucky my windows held out.

I'm not sure what to do about my car. $500 deductible and the damage isn't that bad. It's not something that draws your eye. Plus I got rear ended last month and just dealt with the all the hassle of finding a shop, dealing with insurance, getting the rental car, etc. I really don't feel like going through all the process again so soon. Evidently I have a year to file a claim.

I live in McKinney about a mile north of the tollway off Lake Forest. Hail was peanut size and very noisy. Lots of pings on the windows, and I think it was more intense near Eldorado pkwy. In my neighborhood, lots of spotlights over the garage door were broken.

Today on the way to work I drove down McKinney Place. It is a north-south street near the tollway lined with apartments. There were probably more than a dozen cars with broken windshields.

The main hail was around 7PM and we got a smaller amount around 11PM.

Lesson #1 in Texas.

When Big storms are approaching in Spring do everything you can to get your cars in your garage. Better safe than sorry.

If you've ever seen a car hit with baseball to softball size hail, you'll understand what I mean.

If you don't own the car yet, you have to report it. If you own it, I'd still look into it. My car was in a hailstorm two years ago. I only noticed one bigger dent on the hood. The shop found $4700 in damage (most on the roof--lots of small dents I didn't notice that could compromise the clearcoat). In the end, I didn't care enough to fix it and pocked the check less deductible.

I've come to terms with the fact that I'll have to get it fixed (it's a lease). I still have a year and a half on the lease. If I buy the car at the end of the term, it won't matter. But, if I turn it in, I'll be on the hook and it'll be too late to file a claim. I'll probably wait til May or June. I don't want to get it fixed and then have another hail storm.

We're in SW McKinney and the hail storm lasted about 25 mins continuously. A few cars in the neighborhood had their windows damaged along w the dents of course. Some folks that had class 4 shingles are being told that they are likely in need of a roof replacement. It was a bad storm, just went through a roof replacement almost 2 yrs ago and here we go again

South Plano. No rain till later.
A speck or 2 of hail.
Really nothing. Common here.
One bad hail event in 30 years.
Didn't stop the roofers from canvassing.

As for home roofing, it would be best to go with impact resistant roofing but it doesn't come cheap. Production builders don't offer it. You may have to go the custom route for that.

We got the impact resistant roof as well as skylights.

But an elderly lady made me laugh the other day...she said, "Shouldn't all roofs be impact resistant?"

Folks should do the same thing with their roofs, if they don't have enough damage to require an immediate leak repair.

Take a look at your gutters, vents, and other roof metal--if that doesn't look battered, you probably don't need anything immediate.

Then wait until the season is over.
