All,

Seen a couple of threads about commuting from Plano to Denton. Have a job offer from UNT System Denton in their IT Shared Services department and was wondering if anyone has any insight (in terms of work culture, stability etc.). Would it be worth making the commute from North Plano (121/Independence) to Denton?

Thanks in advance!

If that’s your only job offer and you’re currently unemployed, it’s better than nothing. You’ve seen those threads that say the commute is going to be over an hour each way and worse when there’s bad weather or an accident. It’s your call...

Your only two options for driving will be 121 and 35 or DNT and 380. There’s always road work going on, and the tolls can add up quickly. It won’t be an ideal commute, for sure. As Christie said, if you’re unemployed or are taking a big pay raise, then it is what it is.

I can’t speak for UNT specifically, but universities are generally great places to work at.

I worked at the UNT Registrar's office while I was a student. I enjoyed it. Most full-time employees had been working there for 10 + years.
