my new daughter in law would like tickets to opera performance for her birthday--FTW Opera is doing Lucia di Lammermoor and Turandot end of May ==first part of June

Turandot has the wonderful Nessum Dorma and Lucia has the mad scene

any preferences between the two
Elizabeth Bennett and Korean-born Dongwon Shin sing the leads in Turandot

Elizabeth Futral and Stephen Costello are in Lucia

I'd want to go to Turandot first. It has a much nicer ending than Lucia for a celebration day like a birthday.

they wanted to see Lucia--found out that since we have gold press pass from star-telegram I could buy the tickets at half price--that was nice surprise--
I hope the seats are not too close--think they can still read the translations fairly easily...Bass aisles can be tight--I got seats where an aisle break is--they have only a railing in front of them...but they are on the side...

not to spoil anything but does the Dallas Opera do Dido And Aneous by Purcell? I wouldn't suggest the opera for a birthday of course but does anyone know? Also does the dallas opera have recitals?
