People from the Northeast simply CANNOT grasp the kind of distances we're dealing with in Texas. The DFW metro area is about the same size as the whole state of Connecticut.

Here's how it works: your wife finds a job first. If she's an RN in a hospital or a doctor's practice, that will have a location. Then you work from there to find a place to live that meets budget and has decent schools.

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) and contact dermatitis are 2 different pathophysiologies.

Eczema triggers can include heat or cold, and obviously Texas has plenty of heat so it's very possible you could get eczema flareups from heat. However most people can find adequate alleviation of these symptoms with the right topical products.

If you have environmental allergies, that could also get worse if you move here but obviously hard to predict in advance. But anecdotally most people who have moved here from other states seem to have worsening allergies when they move here according to the people I have talked with, but I dont have data to back that up.

ETA - FWIIW I'm asking not pointing fingers.

So is this wrong? Or am I mis-reading your point?

Contact dermatitis is a type of eczema triggered by contact with a particular substance.

Eczema is the name for a group of conditions that cause skin to become dry and irritated.

Contact dermatitis usually improves or clears up completely if the substance causing the problem is identified and avoided. Treatments are also available to help ease the symptoms.

Yes I like UK sources.......

There's obviously some overlap in their causes/effects but the role of IgE hyperactivity and T cell modulation response is different between the two.

Contact dermatitis is more of a direct sensitivity mediated autoimmune reaction.

Atopic dermatitis is more complex because it involves skin cell substrate linkage breakdowns and loss of water across cell boundaries that don't occur in contact dermatitis.

I would put this way -- skin predisposed to contact dermatitis looks completely normal under microscope if there's no trigger present.

Skin predisposed to atopic dermatitis looks abnormal under close examination all the time, even if there's no trigger present and the patient doesn't have any active symptoms at that time.

Thank you. The last bit in particular is especially interesting.

Allergies can be rough here but i can't speak specifically to eczema. but it really depends on what you are allergic too. several in my family have seasonal environmental allergies from trees, weeds, grasses, pollens. so much so that many have taken to treatment beyond OTC medicines.

as for as RN's - we have ton of hospitals, healthcare, general practitioner offices etc. i have several RN's in the family and everything they tell me is there is a major shortage of RN's. now that may vary by practice as my family is mostly ICU and ER nurses. significant shift bonuses for holidays, weekends, overtime.

Many of the hospital systems here have numerous locations - so i would imagine you could also get in at one and try to transfer in the future.

as others have said DFW is massive - find a job then find a place to live or get a rental place first.

I was hoping its still affordable comparing to NY, as per Zillow I see some good schools in Allen, Frisco, etc areas, not sure what is good for elementary/middle/HS... any recommendations? Also due to the heat, is it bad for ppl with allergies and skin allergies? I'm open to suggestions, outside Dallas too... Houston, San Antonio etc. I know Austin is more expensive than NY ..lol..
I stay in the San Antonio Area allergies are know issues here but you kinda get used to it tbh. Property TAXES tho are a different story but its an ongoing issues throughout the state.

I'd go to Arizona if I were worried about eczema. You can also get an RN job anywhere in the states.
