I would be a first time home buyer moving to Dallas or Fort Worth areas. I'm looking to buy a starter home for around 135k with about 2000 sq ft. I live in AZ now, and looking at a home at 2000 sq ft would cost me at least 250k and you can't even look for 135k without looking at a renovated apt that they now call "condos". I've signed up for a website that shows me all of the listings for the area, and have found some really awesome places, but I have no idea where are some good neighborhoods to start looking into. I will not live in a bad neighborhood because I have a lot of nice things and I don't feel like worrying about my stuff all the time. I have no children, so I don't need to move to a great school district, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, since that's normally the nicer neighborhoods. It will only be my boyfriend, my dog and myself, so I'm looking for neighborhoods with nice trees and yards. Driving distances don't really matter to me, as long as I can get to Dallas or Fort Worth for work...but I love freeway access, even though it's not necessary. Can anyone help me out so I can narrow my search?

Do you know where you will work ?

South Dallas in places like Waxahachie have nice new homes in this price range ? Little Elm up near Frisco may also be an option.

Then there are some older homes around Garland in this range as well.

Mansfield, far south Arlington, and far south Grand Prairie all have some nice homes in that price range.
