I am currently living in south Texas but would really like to move up to the DFW area. This is a little difficult because my wife has no interest in going(deep family roots). I am trying to show how the quality of life would be better but since I am not there I can only rely on internet searches. Her concerns are as follows: distance from family(nothing can be done about that), crime, commuting, schools(we have an 8 year old), higher cost of living. If you guys can give some input I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I can see on the map that there are several lakes in and around the city. Are they nice? Are they destination spots for an afternoon and appropriate for picnics, beaches, paddle boats and that sort of thing? What are your likes and dislikes about living up there? Thank you for your time.

If CC stands for Corpus Christi - the difference is so vast with the beach and the wind.

I have a friend who lived in CC her whole life and moved to Dallas, she was miserable here w/o the water and wind. She finally moved back and is so much happier.

DFW is a really big place. W/out a more concise area it's hard to give more detailed info.
