I second Lakewooders recommendation. The younger crowds enjoy being close to Uptown, Knox/Hendersen and Lower Greenville areas. Staying near Central Expressway, but inside the I-635 loop will offer a good work commute and put you closer to those amenities. The Villages is one of the complexes that have some affordable, yet well maintained units. There are several other complexes in that area as well.

Thank you for the advice. I am young, but I have a family so the party scene never appealed to me. I really appreciate all of the recommendations. I keep reading comments on Apartmentrating.com and a lot of people talk about rats and roaches in apartment complexes. I have never lives around this and have a fear for rats. Is this a problem in this area or is it filthy people that bring roaches?

What about Irving? Would that be close? I'm also trying to get close to Fort Worth as my husband may have a job offer in that area.

The Geico address is 4201 Spring Valley Rd. Dallas, 75244. I heard the Carrolton school district is good and some of Irving is zoned to this district.
