We have been in the Murphy area about 9 months.
Elected Aetna DMO because of the $2400 copay on Orthodontia per kid.
Assuming Orthodontia runs average $5000 per kid. I thought this was a good idea over the $1500 lifetime allotment from Delta Dental PPO option. 12 year old already had early intervention ortho, so used up the $1500 for him on Delta PPO plan. So, assuming that lifetime amount carries over when you are at a new employer in a new state, then we are totally out of pocket for his next set of braces under that plan. Ugh!

Having said that, we have not had a good experience with the local dental operation that accepts Aetna DMO and are finding few alternatives. And when I googled their office name, I found we were in good company and no one has much good to say about them.

Anybody in the metro had GOOD experiences with Aetna DMO and especially with ortho services, which will be our largest planned dental expense?

Can you recommend general dentists and orthodontists?

And unfortunately, I have a cracked crown that will need to be replaced and I will want someone reputable that does cosmetic all the time, not someone that has his/her services discounted as I am beginning to understand the DMO.

I am happy to drive to Plano, Richardson, Garland or other surrounding areas to find quality care. Thanks!

I would ask your employer to see if it is possible to switch to the Aetna PPO plan. Most times with Dental they will allow you to switch outside the enrollment period. You aren't going to find many orthodontists who accept the DMO plan, and those that do aren't worth going to.
Be aware that the dmo plan will only cover a 24 month period. Any treatments after this period you are on the hook for. Besides Apple, Jefferson and Monarch I don't think anyone else accepts the DMO.

I switched for the cheaper premiums and regretted it until I was able to switch back the the PPO.
Good Luck!

We have been using Dr. Robert George in Garland. When we had to get ready for our oldest to get braces I asked around to every adult and kid I saw with braces and it seemed the overwhelming majority went to Dr. George. He has a very nice staff and the girls love going there

Default Murphy Wylie Dentists Orthodontists

Thanks for the feedback on personal experience with the DMO. We have decided to switch to the PPO option.

I looked up some of the Orthodontists on the DMO plan. They graduated dental school in the early 60's. Yikes!

We have decided to switch to the PPO option.

I've decided I would rather stay local for orthodontia. I have gotten a word of mouth recommendation for a popular ortho in Murphy. So I will probably start there. And venture further as needed.

If you have personal experience with Dentists or Orthos in Murphy or Wylie, I would love to hear from you.

If it's Dr. Fessler, then you don't need to keep looking. I know several families that have used him and are very happy.
