Can you buy beer in grocery stores in Addison? (Dallas: sales, to buy)

I know a lot of people disagree, but I personally hate going to grocery stores and having to walk by the aisles of alcohol to get to essentials like veggies and milk. This is only my opinion and you are of course welcome to your own. I live in far north Dallas, not too far from Addison and I drive over there all the time with friends and a friend went to Sams yesterday and couldn't find any beer and was told it was dry so I'd really like to start shopping more in Addison so can anyone tell me if beer sales are permitted in Addison grocery stores before I go through the bother of driving over there?

To answer your question some parts of Addison are dry but I dont think the entire town is dry.

I thought Dallas was the last bastion of bizarre beer/wine zoning. Why can't you find a grocery store there to shop in?

And wouldn't it also bother you to drive past store after store of the "Hard Stuff" even if the Addison stores are dry?

It sure makes it more convenient since you don't have to go to two different stores.

I'm sure it does. It's more of preference thing. I prefer to shop at places that aren't full of liquor or that keep it in the middle aisle. I still shop in grocery stores that are wet here in Nroth Dallas, but if there were dry stores less than 10 minutes away in Addison, I will totally drive a little farther. This is simply an issue for my and I know a lot of other people don't care, but I do so bottomline, are the Addison grocery stores dry or not?

Drive a little farther so you don't have to walk as much? The Tom Thumb at Preston and Beltline is dry. To my knowledge, the only real places to buy booze in Addison are along "beverage row" on Addison/Inwood. Even so, to my knowledge, grocery stores out here can only sell beer and wine. I've yet to see one with liquor in this area.

I was in New Orleans Wednesday and they sell liquor at the gas stations. Wish they did that here. Texas is much too strict with alcohol laws. They are still following the laws that are nearly 100 years old.

I can understand, I feel the same way about going into strickly liquor stores, they seem so seedy, don't you know. Having it in my grocery stores or Sam's takes it out of that element.

Is this way of thinking common in Dallas?

I don't like the taste of alcohol, especially beer, so I just ignore the whole area, like I do with the cookie isle, or all those ready to eat 50% sodium prepackaged meals.

I thought I read that they sell alcoholic beverages in drive-through places in TX? If that's true I find the whole thing kind of ironic.
