I know some GPS systems do not register well in some areas and some map packs don't have full coverage. So I was wondering what some of the better systems were that work well in the Dayton area and won't leave me stranded on a road the GPS doesn't even know the name of.

I don't have anything other than my single ancedotal story. A friend who works for Best Buy in a different part of the state said the techie guys she worked recommended Garmin. So a few years ago i bought one because Dayton is, from my perspective, an awful place to try to figure out. Maybe its a bad model, maybe its a lemon, maybe its operator error but it seems to let me down all the time! A couple of weekends ago I was trying to get to two places I'd never been - had me way off in totally different areas - I wanted to take out and smash it with a hammer. I 'am constantly having to take out my map book. And I have updated the map.
A couple of people at work have Tom Tom's and seem happy enough.

My Garmin gets me through the area just fine on my travels. But I always update mine when needed.
