I know others have posted recently about a new strip shopping center under construction in Camden (right next to the Wal-mart). I drove by and noted the tenants so far:

Game Stop; Movie Stop; Domino's Pizza; Super Cuts; Check & Go; Sally's Beauty Suppy; GNC; Dollar Tree; Mail Zone; and Sleepy's as apparently a free standing building. So far, no sign of a specialty book store and/or coffee.

Oh gee, I was there yesteday and forgot to check it out. Well Dollar Tree is good.
Dollar general is all over and not everything is a dollar. Dollar tree is pretty good and everything is a dollar. I have to ride up 13 to a small dollar tree so now there will be one closer.
Super cuts..........well who knows? They may have a good operators.
The others I can do without.

Thanks for the update

I agree with you about the selection of stores. There are a few units that are either not leased yet, or the contractors just have tiny signs on the windows.

I mainly wanted to see if there was a book store as we discussed at lunch the other day. There is an end unit, farthest from Wal-mart, that looks like it would be well suited for a good book store & coffee shop.

We'll see; I let you know if I see any more my next trip out to Wal-mart!

Well, like I said at lunch the other day, after our previous talk and hope of a big bookstore moving in, I emailed the corporate offices of Borders, Barnes and Noble and Books-a-Million. BAM never replied, but the other two said:

"Thank you for contacting Borders with your store development suggestion. We always welcome input from valued customers like you, and appreciate your ideas for a store in Camden. I do not show any store openings scheduled for that area at this time. I am forwarding your letter to the Development Department so that they are aware of the interest and potential in your area."

and

"Thank you for contacting us with a potential location for one of our Barnes & Noble stores. While we have no store planned in the Delaware area in the near future, we do appreciate your interest in having us in your community. Therefore, I have forwarded the information to our Real Estate & Development department and we will certainly keep your inquiry in mind."

So that's all I know. I've now been to the Waldenbooks in the mall, and it is like all other mall bookstores. They have the current hardcover and paperback bestsellers, the most popular magazines, and some 'bargains'...but the general stock is lacking. It's just not possible in a small storefront like that. Oh well.

I wonder how many letters we need to send to Barnes and Noble before they "Hmmm ... Dover? We should check that out"?

Lash,

Thanks so much for providing the email address. Sending a note to Barnes and Noble slipped my mind and your post jogged my memory. I just sent an email off to Barnes and Noble.

Thanks again.

Charley

My neighbor told me this morning they heard Cracker Barrel is coming to the Camden end of Dover... maybe in this strip? Didn't look like any unit was big enough, but what do I know? That would be nice too!

I like Cracker Barrel. The closest one is in Rebohoth Beach. Having one in Central Delaware would be OK with me.
