I just reno'd my kitchen and tried to reuse my counters, which of course detract from the new cabinets. It's 20 year old laminate, and the prior owners patched it in a very visible area.

It's a small kitchen, approx. 41 sq ft, but I have a seated bar area, so half of the counter is custom.

I'm thinking about dragging my counters up to Ikea to save on the cost of having them drive down to measure, but am wondering if there are cost-effective sources near Lewes. The house is worth about $250K, so while I'd love to have granite for resale, I don't know that it's feasible. I do hope to put the house on the market within the next 6 months.

Also would appreciate any names of installers.

Thanks!

Granite never hurts resale value. Silestone is popular nowadays, also.
Two granite counter top companies I know to be good are Counter Intelligence ( do a ciacounters search) and Ancient Art counters in Milford. I cannot recommend anyone locally for laminate tops because the ones I know are not worth recommending.

Granite counters do not really increase the appraised value of a property. Many properties have granite counters these days. I even saw a couple of doublewides with upgraded granite counters. What were they thinking? Granite may enhance the marketability, however. Thinking about re-sale - Is it worth spending all that money for granite when there are some other very good choices, cheaper? With my work, I'm in and out of houses on a daily basis and have seen it all.

Exactly my point. I want to get the house sold, not lose money on it, so budget is key.

Any local sources you can recommend for cheaper alternatives? Ikea seems to be my best bet so far, but Philly is a bit far.

Granite seems to be about $2K from local sources, which is substantially more than my last home in another state with a much larger kitchen.

Similarly you, I've even seen granite in popup campers .
